Sorry to hear about this, I wasn't aware as I've been so out of the loop with LANs lately. Glad you're still going to the LAN though and I'm sure there's nothing to be concerned about. Not sure if I'll be there or not this time - feel like I should pop over to make the effort to say hi etc but depends what else is on at the time.

That sucks. That's why I ducked out early as I wasn't entirely sure and didn't want to mess about saying I'd come only to drop out later. Would love to do it but just doesn't work out for me this year unfortunately - hopefully you can fill the empty spots.
  3. 2015 Shell F1 Belgian Grand Prix

Going to have to duck out of this one I'm afraid. Was keen to try a non-British GP sometime but the dates don't really work for me next year I'm afraid. Have fun though!

    Could be interested

Yep that's about the size of it We were at Cad West on the Friday.

Wonder if it's worth organising a little trip at some point if enough people are interested, either in the photography aspect or just experiencing it. It's not that far really, only a couple of hours from the other side of Birmingham where I am so a day trip is feasible if you get up at silly o'clock. Of course a couple of days is preferable as it maximises the chances of seeing more stuff but there's a good local campsite with all facilities just around the corner for £7 a night. The biggest issue is that they don't fly at weekends so time off work would be required.
  7. Mach Loop

Yeah they do make a racket lol. The F15 in no.8 was shot with a 70-200 with no extender and on full frame so that gives you an idea how close they get
  8. Mach Loop

Cheers Yeah although most of Wales is apparently designated as a low flying area (LFA7), the Mach Loop between Machynlleth in the south and Dollegau in the north is where they all go for low flying training. It's total pot luck what you see on the day as the military obviously don't publish schedules. Planes can also drop in and out of the loop at multiple points and don't always do a full circuit so you different viewing points can yield different results even on the same day. Planes differ in their rarity but we were very lucky for the two days we went. Hawks are very common, F15s somewhat less so. Tornadoes come through quite a bit but unfortunately the only pass we had from one of those was just after we packed up and started walking down - typical! Typhoons are pretty rare I believe so I was happy to get a shot of one. Most of the planes realise the photographers are there and will bank at the right moment to let you get a good shot. Some showboat a bit more - usually the F15 pilots will bank and weave as they approach, giving you the nice trails shots like in 1 and 2 above. We had the Hawk navigator wave at us, which you can see in 9 & 10. Also one of the F15 navigators was holding up a sign, which you can see in 3 above but unfortunately none of us got a tight enough shot to read it. Can't wait to go again

I think I'm a very very strong possibility for this - when do you need to know for sure at the latest?

BTW Blind, if you're not aware, there's currently £20 cashback from Canon on the 50mm f/1.4. Just in case you needed any further encouragement I think just about every Canon photographer I know has one of these.
