Was today the last straw that means Mercedes really need to control their drivers in the last half of the season? That first lap crash could have been the end of the race for both of them. It is great that they've been allowed to race so far, but it's going to turn very nasty if it's not managed soon.
Early start to the thread as a couple of the previous winners are using their winnings for 2014 (and I don't want to forget), plus most of the teams have sorted their lineups now! As always, we'll fill from the top teams downwards based on the 2013 constructors' finishing order due to the large number of driver movements. Total Prize Pool - £180 Prizes to be paid out for: £100 1st Place £ 45 2nd Place £ 15 3rd Place And of course some random prizes so those with poor drivers have the chance of winning something: £ 5 Most DNFs by the end of the season £ 5 First to cause a Safety Car to be deployed - Bottas £ 5 First driver to be replaced mid-season either permanently or temporarily for qualifying/race (practice sessions do not count) £ 5 First engine failure during a race - Hamilton Once again it will be £10 to enter. All winnings to be paid out after the final GP of the season, ALL money entered gets paid back out to the winners. The more that enter, the bigger the prizes. Good luck and have fun! Paid Entrants 1. After our third trip to Silverstone with the epic.LAN community in 2012, and after a year out in 2013, it's time to go back to Silverstone! TICKETS ARE NOW BOOKED The tickets are already on sale for 2014 and always some grandstands will sell fast, so we will need to get a move on and make sure we have our tickets by mid-September at the absolute latest, if not earlier! This gives you a couple of months to save! Some indicative costs based on our likely plans follow, and you're welcome to join in with those, or opt for cheaper race seating arrangements if you wish. These are estimated prices until the full price tickets are announced Race Tickets Becketts gives an awesome view of the race through the complex, and also a double view of the arena section, and is pretty much un-restricted by fencing, so this would be our first choice, it is often described as one of the best places to sit on any circuit in the world. Failing that, we would probably look at Club or Luffield. These are Platinum Covered Seats and therefore cost £320+. Grandstand tickets allow you to roam on Friday and Saturday therefore you can sit anywhere for Practice and Qualifying sessions to experience the whole circuit. So even if you pick a cheaper race seat, we can all sit together on Fri/Sat and split for the actual race. The cheapest option is General Admission for £150+, though you can only roam in the grandstands on Fridays with a GA ticket. Camping This costs £60 est this year. A slight increase again on last year, but this is because they continue to improve the sites. There will also be a per pitch cost for electrical hookup and a possible additional price for cars. Hookup bookings were released on 1/10 last year so we need to be ready if we want power on the pitch. The campsite also has catering outlets, a bar (with real ale) and a covered stage with some live bands on as well as pub quiz and new to 2013 interviews with drivers on stage. We will be setting up an epic.CAMPING zone with tents all facing inwards and a small gazebo type arrangement in the middle. Expect a wine and cheese evening, once more because we can. The campsite access covers you from Wednesday evening to Monday morning to get the best value for money (and avoids the traffic). Spending Money Camping We had a couple of rounds from the campsite bar which were quite reasonable for a temporary event around the £3.80/pint mark for real ale. We didn't use the on-site catering much last time. We stocked up at the local Tesco (taking your own alcohol in is fine) and did some typical campsite cooking (supernoodles) and a couple of BBQs. This made eating/drinking quite cheap in the campsite. Visits The only visit we made was to one of the pubs in Silverstone Village which many of the teams also visit, just had the taxi in and out costs (or walk) and normal drink prices. There is a fairground on the site if people want to use that. On Track Food & Drink is fairly expensive on track, but not as bad as we thought it would be. Around £4 for a pint of lager and meals for around £5-7 while inside the perimeter. You can of course take your own food in with you and your own alcohol also appeared to be acceptable. The merchandise stalls are tempting, but we'd advise stocking up on your team shirts etc by abusing online discounts instead. Fanvision At the moment, Fanvision does not have an agreement with FOM to broadcast at the circuit. The Dates/Plan Wednesday 2nd July - Arrive at Silverstone Woodlands Campsite, chill with a glass or two of wine. Thursday 3rd July - Continue to chill at campsite, some beverages in the village pub and some helpings of meat. Friday 4th July - Practice Sessions (F1 & Support Races), Evening Live Bands Saturday 5th July - Qualifying Sessions (F1 & Support Races), Evening Live Bands Sunday 6th July -Drivers' Parade Lap, RACE! & After-Race Party (see the drivers etc on stage + more live bands + more beverages) Monday 7th July - Hometime, bad times Various other entertainment included, e.g. parachute displays, Red Arrows etc. The Attendance List Name Seat Type Accomodation Payment Winbar Becketts Camping Yes Murray-Mint Becketts Camping Yes MRated Becketts Camping Yes Saboo Becketts Camping Yes Matthab Becketts Camping Yes Markb Becketts Camping Yes Hodg GA Camping Yes _Jay_ GA Camping Yes TICKETS ARE NOW BOOKED
