If you do not vote then you lose all your rights to moan about the "system" as you will have had no input.

To quote myself from Freddyshouse

For those that aren't voting for whatever reason, kindly keep your mouth shut in future when something political happens that you don't like.

You've got a chance to make your voice heard.

If you don't use it, then you're accepting the result by default.

I'll be voting UKIP for this European election and Conservative at the next General Election. I have yet to meet a single person who says they'll be voting Labour. They're either keeping their head down and staying quiet, or they have finally realised that Labour have been chipping away at personal responsibility and liberties for the last 12 years and it's finally gone too far.

One politician said "The bloodbath has to stop"...

Not yet thanks. I'm enjoying my feeling of schadenfreude

Choosing not to vote is an empty protest as there is no record of your opinion. Abstention is all well and good but it is comparable to apathy. Whether you actively choose not to vote or whether you decide it's all bollocks and not bother, the end result is the same (low turnout). At least turning up to the ballot and spoiling it, or returning a spoiled postal vote *IS* registered in the tallies.

In Australia it is your legal duty to vote, people for some reason have an apathy towards voting. Not voting isn't showing any kind of protest, if you don't think the politicians are any good then spoil your ballot. I did this for everyone of my student union elections! (on an amusing not spoilt ballots get read out when they are doing the count)

They get read out as a statistic, just the same as the turnout gets read out. All spoiling the ballot does is waste time for the staff doing the count (who aren't the politicians people are trying to get a message to).

Increased percentage of spoiled ballot papers shows *everyone* that there are more disenchanted people making a point.

European elections are odd.

They use a proportional representation system meaning that the winning seats are allocated based on how much of the vote each party wins.

For example, if Cons got 30%, Labour 20%, UKIP 20%, LibDem 15%, Greens 10% and BNP 5% and there are 72 seats, then it would go roughly:

Cons 22

Labour 14

UKIP 14

LibDem 11

Greens 7

BNP 4

What makes me chuckle is all the "main" parties getting in a tizz over the BNP. Maybe if the "main" parties listened to what the voting public actually WANTED then the BNP wouldn't be capitalising on it.

Yes, as long as you're on the Electoral Register you don't need your polling card.

Well I will be voting, no local elections here, but I think it's worth voting in the EU polls if for no other reason than to send a message to the current government that their time is up.

epic24 seems so long ago and I haven't been back since. Having taken the 3v3 Rocket League tournament, I'm hungry for more.

      And so...

I have plans to return to epic27 with a new team behind me! I am incredibly excited as epic24 was my first taste of a LAN and I loved every minute of it. It's completely worth the 700 miles round trip and I'm ready to do it all over again!
