Microsoft looking to buy Mojang

Pffff.  '...according to a person with knowledge of the matter.' is quoted as their source.  This is the same type of NewsCorp\Fox New speak as 'some people say' meaning 'here's something I thought up while having a big poo this morning'.

A coupel of years back, Notch tweeted about his price:

"Anyway, my price is two billion dollars. Give me two billion dollars, and I'll endorse your crap."

I think this is just a slow news day thing.  Although am prepared to eat my voxel-based-cap.

Well its already on every platform, what are they going to do other than pull it from Mac and Sony kit or develop it more for PC/XBOX?

Given what happened to the twitch deal (admiteddly still sold to another buyer), I wont hold my breath until I hear more news. Though this is beyond just flirtatious stages from what I've heard in other sources

I do have a guilty confession I've never actually played minecraft, but have watched and heard so much of it I don't actually need or want to. I also don't find interest in those open-ended games anymore, I spent so many years doing it with halflife and its mods that I want crafted and story-driven experiences now

Minecraft is the next generation's lego, I wish I still had the same desire to create I did in my 20s

Didn't Microsoft just have a mass culling of staff? But they have money to throw around to buy a games studio that... make one game!? Hmmm...

Probably different budgets and different departments in the overall company.

Yes, the Microsoft Studios division (which is under Entertainment)!

Yeah, something had to be happening.  I'd like to think it's for the best with someone big like Microsoft taking over but I can't help but feel a sense of foreboding.  Main development had been handed over to Jeb (I think) at the start of last year, the main development team over at Bukkit jumped ship about a week ago.  There's practically no one left to develop minecraft or it mods API :(.

AS I've said else where - 20x earnings for a games studio with one game - madness!  (I know it has valuable IP)

wow I'm still quite surprised, but hey money makes the world go around, and if I was offered $2.5 billion, I would be out quicker than a fart.

Mmmm, tasty baseball cap.

Hope they enjoy the money though - they've deserved.  Sunk more time into a £15 game than any other game I have *ever* owned.

A good insight the blog, read it the other day. The most interesting thing I took from it, was that he was scared of being part of something "big". He admits that he never meant for Minecraft to be "so big" but what I read into his post, was more that he was scared of having responsibility squared on his shoulders.

epic24 seems so long ago and I haven't been back since. Having taken the 3v3 Rocket League tournament, I'm hungry for more.

      And so...

I have plans to return to epic27 with a new team behind me! I am incredibly excited as epic24 was my first taste of a LAN and I loved every minute of it. It's completely worth the 700 miles round trip and I'm ready to do it all over again!
